PORTALFEST 2019 :: presenting a fresh programme of international and local artists new-music projects ’outside the concert hall’ over two weekends 25-26 Jan and 01-02 Feb in Wellington.
Featuring two larger shows, Elliot Vaughan’s absurd, mournful Fish in Pink Gelatine on 25-26 Jan at Adam Art Gallery, & Swiss ensemble Kollektiv International Totem’s complex performance installation KIT FIT 01-02 Feb at Potocki Paterson Gallery.
On Friday Feb 01 we have the late-night Portal III, featuring stellar Melbourne-based cellist David Moran at Pyramid Club premiering brand-new works by NZ-composers Louisa Nicklin & Reuben Jelleyman, alongside contemporary music pillars Xenakis & Saariaho.
And we join with the Fiction Room project at Pegasus Books, to feature two of WLG’s most inventive musicians, Gerard Crewdson & Antonia Barnett-McIntosh.
The festival pass ($60 / $40) gives you entry to all festival shows; your name will be put at the door for all events*. All tickets come as waged adult and unwaged or concession (which includes university students and over 65s). Festival passes are available to book on-line here and save you $15 on the price of all shows 1x each, including FR suggested koha, but give you access to view shows 2x; note that for Fish in Pink Gelatine booking is essential as entry is limited: if you already have a festival pass we recommend that you book by email this address to ensure a spot:

Individual tickets (ranging from $20 - $10) are also available at UnderTheRadar under each show event (see links below), or by cash at the door to each event from half an hour before each show. These also allow you to make a suggested koha payment electronically for the Fiction Room events.

We want everyone who wants to be come to PORTALFEST to be able to! We also want people to have the opportunity to be generous. All ticket sales go towards paying our musicians and covering some basic running costs, but the larger the box-office, the more the performers are supported.
So, if money is a limiting factor, or, if you would like to donate to the festival, we would love to hear from you so we can find a solution. Please contact Reuben if that applies.
