West Auckland rapper Tom Scott brings his “stunning” (NPR) jazz-infused Taite Music Prize-winning project Avantdale Bowling Club to Wellington for “an incredible journey of jazz, rap, soul, and spoken word” (Radio13).
Avantdale Bowling Club will perform at The Opera House as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival on Saturday, 21 November.
Influenced by the likes of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, with sounds of Pharoah Sanders and Alice Coltrane, Tom describes his latest album as “a self-help book addressed to myself” that was “made to be played live”.
Joined by a stellar line-up of the country’s top musicians, Tom’s “turn-on-a-pin rhythmic cadence” (Metromag) and his “brutally honest, startlingly raw” lyrics (NZ Herald) will have you on your feet for a live music experience that’s as cerebral as it is emotional.
Tickets for Avantdale Bowling Club will be on public sale from 1 September on Ticketmaster.
There will be a Culture Club supporters pre-sale from 25 August, to join and find out more visit the website:
