THE DARK EIGHTIES is a cult 80s hits dance party at Whammy Bar on the infamous Karangahape Road. We'll be playing your favourite (and some more obscure) DARK 1980s anthems until late.
Our last party at Whammy Bar was very busy, so make sure you get your tickets in advance!
Our history:
We originated in Vancouver in Canada many years ago. In the last couple of years we've thrown fantastic parties in NYC, London, Toronto, Montreal, Wellington and Auckland! We've even started a Twitch account for online DJ sets at www.twitch.tv/thedarkeighties where you can check what we're all about.
How shall I dress on a night like this?
We strongly encourage wild outfits, 80s clothing, costumes, leather, vinyl, lace, masks, wigs, giant hats, overly hairsprayed 80s hair, fishnets, Bowie/Specimen/Klaus Nomi/Steve Strange/Siouxsie channeling face makeup/face paint and the weird like to make this an extra *special* night! But we also want you to feel (somewhat) comfortable, so dress however you want!
Pub/speaking level music 'til 10:30ish, dancing level volume starts 10:30pm/11pm + goes to the end of the night
