In the coldest part of the year, the people of Pōneke hide from the bitter winds of Tāwhirimātea, huddling around faulty heaters in drafty rental homes. Whakarongo - he aha tērā? (listen - what is that?) Rolling bass shakes the wobbly floor, and hi-hats can be heard over the whistling wind. Let us venture out into the winter wilds.
Come and bathe in the vibrations from the speaker stacks, and warm up to our latest line-up of Aotearoa’s best bass DJs. What better way to defy winter? A long-standing pillar of the Pōneke dance community, HALO will warm things up with a melodic selection of liquid dnb, ready for newcomer EKLEKTICA to throw in some jungle to fuel the mix. HAVEN will stoke the fire with her Bristol-influenced signature style, before RUINZ, an Ōtepoti dweller, brings her own tastes to the drum n bass smorgasbord. All of this will have you ready to bask in the fire of LUSH as she lays down some tasty footwork.
LINE-UP:
2130-2215 HALO
2215-2300 EKLEKTICA
2300-0000 HAVEN
0000-0100 RUINZ
0100-0200 LUSH
As always, Femme n Bass is about creating a culture of respect and consent, where everyone is comfortable and able to enjoy themselves. Don’t forget your part of making this space welcoming for everyone! Respect others’ boundaries on the dancefloor and in your interactions, and if it isn’t an ENTHUSIASTIC yes, it’s a no - from asking for a hug to buying someone a drink. If you come across any inappropriate behaviour or need some support, let the wonderful staff of Moon bar know, or find the Femme n Bass organisers directly, we’re all happy to help.
Femme n Bass is about showcasing the massive talent amongst the babes of the bass music community; creating spaces for femme and gender diverse DJs and producers of Aotearoa to strut their stuff, while putting on an epic night of heavy tunage.
