Kicking off the fourth year of Songs6021 Songwriters Showcase will be Rubita (solo), Madillionette, and Stephen Riddell.
Rubita - Rubita (a.k.a. Rachel Kibblewhite) has become a familiar figure around the Wellington music scene over the past couple of years. She was the first female to graduate with a Bachelor in Music, majoring in electric guitar in 2015 from Otago University, and in 2016 released her first E.P and won the ‘Best Song Writer’ in the NZ Battle of the Bands competition. Her debut album ‘Distinctive Thrill’, was released in 2020.
Madillionette - Madillionette (a.k.a.. Jude Madill & Joseph Coleman) are half of Folk/Americana group The Madillionaires. Jude and Joseph will entertain you with songs about the Wild West as well as those inspired by more mundane subjects like road closures and walking to the supermarket.
Stephen Riddell - Stephen studied classical music as a youngster growing up in Christchurch, before walking away from music to focus on film making. In recent years he has rediscovered his passion for music and fallen in love with the storytelling of folk music.
