Gig Information

Julie Bevan (guitar) and Nick van Dijk (trombone, trumpet, keys) are performing a concert of original music that they have been developing and recording.
Eclectic original music inspired by jazz, kiwi and Brazilian music styles, all
vying for the listeners attention. It draws on all the musical experiences and styles of music
Julie and Nick have been involved in over the years.
Guitarist/composer Julie brings a unique blend of original and classic Bossa Nova to international audiences. Julie has presented concerts of original music in Japan, Brazil, Australia Sweden and NZ. Julies’ recent critically acclaimed album ‘Kaleidoscope’ was recorded both in Brazil and Aotearoa. Julie plays guitar, beautifully, and her repertoire of instrumentals
including her own compositions are strongly influenced by Brazilian samba

“The listener is always engaged and enthralled.”
Sliding smoothly between the trombone, trumpet and the piano chairs, Nick reveals rich harmonic layers in seas of blues, jazz and soul. From mentoring at New Zealand’s finest jazz institutions to playing in orchestras and show bands through to jamming in restaurants and bars the focus is on musical alchemy. By melding lyrical melody within slinky chord structures, Van Dijk shows his ability to charm and relax listeners of all outlooks.
