The most uniquestest thing you've heard of for a while!
On April 29 2023 New Orleans style Brass Band Crash Bandihoot will be tramping all their heavy instruments (including a sousaphone!) up to the wonderful Powell Hut for a unique evening, and all for a great cause - DOC's Kakapo Recovery
The gig will be a fun, friendly, colourful and unmissable acoustic spectacular in a truly beautiful space. Crash Bandihoot have sold out back to back shows at Wellington Jazz Festival, paraded at Newtown Festival and recently returned from their Australia '22 Tour. The event will be professionally filmed for the Givealittle fundraising page.
Kākāpō are Critically Endangered and there are only 252 alive today. Kākāpō Recovery combines the efforts of scientists, rangers, volunteers and donors to protect the critically endangered kākāpō. It is vitally important that we do everything we can to prevent them becoming extinct.
Help us ensure a brighter future for kākāpō by donating to Kākāpō Recovery. Your donation will go to the Mauri Ora Kākāpō Trust – 100% of donations go to the health and vitality (Mauri Ora) of this critically endangered species. This work includes things like supplementary food to the adult kākāpō, the costs of hand rearing kākāpō chicks such as feeding, intensive care, medication, health testing, and equipment to allow us to care for the birds such as radio telemetry gear or incubators. - DOC

Included with your ticket -
- A show! Crash Bandihoot will be performing at the hut for around an hour at 7pm
- A bed for 1 night on the evening of the 29th April 2023

Not included with your ticket -
- Transport/travel to or from Powell Hut including the tramp
- Food/drink
- Clothing/bedding
IMPORTANT -
- The DOC website estimates the tramp up to Powell Hut to be 5-6 hours and of intermediate difficulty. Please fully read and understand all instructions on the DOC site (link below), and remember that you are completely responsible for yourself.
- The only cost being covered by tickets is for the hut beds, all the rest will be donated. The band will be paying for their own transport/food/drink etc.
- You can keep up with the videos/donations/news etc on the Givealittle page (https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/crash-bandihoot-kakapo-fundraiser-hut-spectacular) and also on the Crash Bandihoot FB page. We will be posting receipts for all the donations.
- You are responsible for yourself, as you usually would be when visiting a hut. Bring everything you need for yourself and treat the space and others with maximum respect. Prepare to take any rubbish back with you leave the hut in pristine condition, we are guests.
