Aotearoa's biggest and best free music festival and street fair makes a comeback to present the 29th Newtown Festival ! Enjoy more than 420 stalls, 150 artists, 1000 performers, 16 stages, activities and happenings all over Newtown. Join us in celebration of Wellington's most exciting and colourful suburb.
There are free activities for the family, including a balance bike course, skating, a ferris wheel, and more! Entertainment keeps you going throughout the day from dancers, buskers, circus performers, and musicians across so many stages playing anything from heavy riffs to pop bangers to crooning to some of the most exciting artists around to keep an eye on. Well-loved headliners mingle with up-and-coming talent. Outdoor cafes, craft beer precincts, local businesses, and stalls selling all sorts of arts, crafts, treasure, and the best range of international food to be found anywhere!
Newtown Festival presents sixteen stages across its site, dotted across Riddiford Street and side streets. Our biggest acts are coming to the Tangata Whenua Stage (hospital end of Riddiford Street) and the South Stage (zoo end of Riddiford Street). The stages in the side streets offer niche insights into the thriving local music communities, with much emerging brilliance to be discovered. Local venues continue the party into the evening.
Bring a hat, sunblock, water, reusable tupperware and keepcup, cash, hand sanitiser and a good vibe!
