They perform a mix of jazz standards, Indian Classical tunes, original compositions based on Indian Ragas, songs by leading jazz and fusion musicians and also pop classics by the Beatles, Sting, Stevie Wonder, and more. The band comprises of BEN FERNANDEZ on piano, MANJIT SINGH on tabla and vocals, NICK TAYLOR on bass, ANDREW HALL on Saxophone and RON SAMSOM - drums and features guest vocalists AMRITA BHENDE D'SOUZA & DALJEET KAUR. RaagTime’s musicians have performed at events, gigs and festivals all around the world, including (in NZ): Music in the Parks, the Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Arts Festival, World Masters Games, as well as in concert with some of the world’s leading Indian musicians, such as Ustad Taufiq Qureshi, Ustad Fazal Qureshi (tabla), Purbayan Chatterjee (sitar) and Ustad Dilshad Khan (sarangi).

AKANE 紅音
Akane 紅音 is a musical unit playing traditional Japanese songs, in particular Minyo(民謡) and Shigin(詩吟). We play our songs on Shamisen (三味線) and Wadaiko (和太鼓). We are based in Auckland and have been performing at various events in the area for the past 5 years. We mainly play Minyo songs, which are Japanese folk songs from all around Japan, and Shigin, a mix of Japanese and Chinese poems. We play these types of songs in our special Akane style. We hope you all will enjoy the fusion of the graceful style of Shigin, the dynamic sound of Tsugaru shamisen and the very powerful Wadaiko beats!
