Gig Information

Techno Echo and Pyramid Club are happy to bring you a sumptuous evening of gorgeous electronic music. This is Pyramid Club's last gig of 2023!

Techno Echo has been running a monthly meet up for women & non-binary music creators to share knowledge around sound & light technology. Featuring special micro performances and demonstrations with time for connection and community-building in a supportive environment. We invite you to join us to experience this fine bunch of musicians we've curated to play!

SONYA WATERS is a solo synth artist playing meditative soundtracks for imaginary films. Her music is underpinned by lush layers of synth orchestration crisscrossed with tessellations of West Coast Moog and vocoder vocals. Semi-modular cutups build into rich textural soundscapes reminiscent of 1960-70s British TV themes, old library music, and the mysterious drones of Folk Horror.

JAPES is the alias of Pōneke based songwriter, producer and DJ Mia Kelly. Coming from a background in sonic arts and broadcasting, they meld together elements of indie rock and electronica, to offer you oozing thoughtful sounds and songs.

VARDA are a guitar and synth duo from Te Whanganui-a-Tara. It combines the talents of Ru from Unsanitary Napkin and Displeasure and Alison, formerly of Sydney psych band the Dandelion. They wish they were like Boris and/or Yellow Magic Orchestra. Their music has been described by Under the Radar as 'an emotionally transportive shimmering mosaic of majestic guitars and motorik grooves'. They are pretty and they are nice.

WATERFALLS is the immersive and verdant avant-pop project of Amber Johnson (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Kahu ki Whangaroa). Melding dreamlike analog synth layers with celestial vocals and luxurious flutes, mesmerising grooves, gently unfurling sonics and beats that shift from sparse to polyrhythmic. She strives for beauty and emotional depth in her musical output.

LORAZEPAM is the outsider pop outlet of Lora Martin. Using a tracker as her DAW, Lorazepam's music consists of looping digital sounds, carefully curating melodic and often distorted sonic backdrops for fragile songwriting.

Special thanks to Creative NZ for supporting Pyramid Club's programme.
