This is a concert for raising funds and awareness for the holiday programme 'To The Front'.
Girls Rock Aotearoa/ To The Front has helped young women, trans, intersex, takatāpui, and gender diverse youth to explore music since 2018. In our programmes, students form bands, build instrument skills, participate in workshops and write their own songs. Our next Tāmaki Makaurau programme will be on 15th- 19th January, 2024.
We have the amazing lineup: Psycho Gab, Bub, Jordyn with a Why and DJ Lil Mill.
Psycho Gab is a five-piece neo-soul band formed in early 2023 in Tāmaki-Makaurau. Their sound is fluid and genre-bending, with flavours of jazz, pop, soul, funk and more. The band has been making waves gigging around Auckland, releasing debut single ‘Messy’ in May 2023.
Bub are an amethyst rock band based in Tamaki-makaurau. Their songs are genre defying and best characterised by vulnerable lyrics delivered by soul power vocals, cars-esq synths and a distorted driving rhythm section. The southern hemisphere stars truly aligned to bring together sagittarius.
Growing up in the suburban-scapes of South Auckland, Jordyn with a Why has quickly impacted the Aotearoa music scene with her reo rua (bilingual) ethereal Neo-Soul/R&B sounds. Descending from Whāingaroa, Mulifanua Lalovi, Falelatai and Vaimoso, the stories are woven throughout her music.
DJ Lil Mill, host of Monday Morning Glory on 95bFM, will be carrying us through the night between sets with her lush soundscapes.
