Jump start your Newtown Festival weekend with Kubatana & the Moringa Dancers followed by Maracatui at Moon on Saturday 2nd March.
Kubatana & the Moringa Dancers will kick off the festivities from 8:30pm with their high energy uplifting West African inspired rhythms and dance that will make your spirit soar and bring a smile to your face.
Maracatui will then take to the stage from 9:30pm and rock the night away with traditional Maracatui percussion, song, and dance all the way from Pernambuco in northeast Brazil to Aotearoa. Enjoy original Maracatu rhythms incorporating a broader range of instrumentation to creating musical arrangements that have wide appeal while still paying homage to traditional Brazilian Maracatu roots and culture.
