VIDA
VIDA's sound is inspired by sonic innovators such as Björk, Flying Lotus, Prince, and Sun Ra, creating a unique sound of alien jazz that exists somewhere between neo-soul and experimental art-pop. With a background in dance, theatre, fine arts and ritual, VIDA brings an interdisciplinary approach to her songwriting and live performance. Vida sees performance as a fertiliser of collective joy and uses visionary science fiction to offer somatic rituals of queer love-in-action and radical kinship. VIDA is based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa/New Zealand and gives mihi to this whenua for it's upbringing of her essence and sound.
HUN LYNCH
Hannah Lynch is a multi-disinplinary artist who works primarily as an musician, actor and score maker. She is of Palagi and Samoan descent who’s ancestors hail from New Zealand and the village of Vaiusu. She also whakapapa Ngāti Porou. Hannah’s solo project Hun Lynch is currently working on the first EP to be released in 2024. The project is a queer futurist expression, focused on merging urgent live instrumentation and voice with synthetic sounds.
Frau Knotz toggles between whimsical fantasies and dark truths, switches propulsive rhythms and expansive balladry and tunes glamour with gameplay to concoct elixirs of electropop. The Ngāmotu-based producer, DJ and singer's original songs simulate echoes of an extra-terrestrial yet power-packed video game soundtrack in which Carolyn Polachek, Grimes and Robyn are characters. With 3 single releases under belt, Frau Knotz is ready to take her live act to crowds further afield. Her 7-track debut EP is due for release later this year, so get ready; Frau Knotz vows to take you on a deep sonic odyssey through her 3-dimensional world.
