The Rogue's regular Sunday afternoon jazz. Funky, jazzy, soulful jazz. Beer, jazz, on a Sunday perfect!
This week featuring local saxophonist Alex Trask and his quintet
Imaginary Folksongs
Music from speculative lands blends with Earth folk music to create a new sound with a free jazz attitude. Alto specialists Alex Trask and Elizabeth Hocking join forces to present a set of songs including folk music from various countries and original compositions. Songs from Alex's live record Pool of Tears will feature, as well as some old favourites and new tunes. Two alto saxophones provide a unique and raucous sound unusual for the repertoire, speaking clearly through simple melodies.
Personnel:
Alex Trask - alto saxophone
Elizabeth Hocking - alto saxophone
Leonardo Coghini - piano
Daniel Yeabsley - bass
Baileigh Sparkes - drums
