The World Choir Games 2024 springs into action with a momentous Opening Ceremony at Spark Arena.
Join us as we welcome choirs from all parts of the world to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland with a glittering flag parade of nations and a spellbinding show that weaves our varied cultural traditions and performance styles together into a dynamic story of collective singing in New Zealand.
From the first melodious bird calls echoing across the land to the arrival of kapa haka, choral song and the music of the many people who now call Aotearoa home, it is a story that binds us together.
Conceived by World of WearableArt director Malia Johnston in collaboration with designer Rowan Pierce and composer Eden Mulholland, Kura Te Ua and Otene Hopa, this theatrical spectacular features performances by Ria Hall with haka dance company Hawaiki TŪ, Freshman’s Dance Crew, the Auckland Gospel Choir and Viva Voce, with more to be announced.
Enjoy with us this grand prelude to ten days of intense world-class competition, joyful ceremonies, stunning evening concerts, entertaining workshops, and daytime performances right across the city.
Let the Games begin!
