Nearly fourteen years after it was first released in small runs on CDR and cassette, Terror of the Deep are proud to present their seminal album Airport Underneath the Dome on limited edition vinyl.
Pressed at Mobineko in Taiwan on 140gm black vinyl, the original 8 song album has been given a fresh remaster for this release, and now also contains two exclusive bonus tracks, the Mason James classics Yeah and Space Woman, both recorded live and direct in their hometown of Wellington. Each copy also contains a two sided, full colour A4 insert featuring photos, posters, setlists and reviews from when the album was first released in October 2010.
Despite being infamously panned by NZ Musician magazine upon its initial release, the son of influential English DJ John Peel, Tom Ravenscroft, played I Am Ocean and Two Wizards from the album on his BBC radio show.
Terror of the Deep will launch this reissue by performing the album in its entirety at this family friendly, afternoon event and will have vinyl available for purchase at $50 per copy.
We look forward to seeing you at the Opportunity for Animals in Newtown, Wellington on Saturday 22 June at 2:00pm. Free entry.
Here is what some local and overseas reviewers have had to say about Terror of the Deep over the years:
...this is heavenly stuff. - Inpress Magazine, Melbourne.
One of the 10 great NZ band you should know - Flavorwire, New York.
...masters of the classic tight-collared pop melody. - Impose Magazine, New York.
...unbeatable New Zealand garage...irresistible pop hooks...More please. Recommended! - Volcanic Tongue, Glasgow, Scotland.
...bright, lush, upbeat but a bit melancholy NZ guitar pop...an instant classic...done in classic NZ fashion but not trying to make good on any past scene glory. - Night People Records, Iowa.
...a new, creative band simply *happening*, the kind of indie-rock that makes you temporarily forget what a festering cesspool indie rock is and just smile in fleeting amazement. - Stereo Sancity, London.
...varying degrees of success...while I understand the transmission that is being sent, I’m not too sure that I’m buying it...it’s hard to gauge the sincerity of the uniqueness presented here...ultimately left me a bit confused. - NZ Musician Magazine.
