Gold Medal Famous is a three piece electropunk founded in Te Whanganui-a-Tara in 2008. Featuring new member Rosanna Von Keseinberg (DJ Catlady), Vorn Colgan (The Vorn Band, Wellington Sea Shanty Society, Crash Bandihoot etc) and Ōtepoti based sound artist Chris Wilson (Selective Yellow, Chris Hesitation). Gold Medal Famous is working on a new EP. This is their first gig in a long time.
DIRECT PLANT SOUND absorbs the surrounding natural world, distilling it into primitive sonic terror. Te-Whanganui-a-Tara local DPS hits digital clipping heights and self loathing lows, putting body and mind on the line for human entertainment. Presented as an ever changing, improvised performance of harsh noise, using simple homemade sound sources to entertain observational politics and masochistic tendencies.
Thagomizer is the dino synth project (dinosaur themed dungeon synth) of Caspar Kneale (yes, he is related, in fact mr Birchville Cat Motel is Caspar's Dad). Inspired by the vibe of retro dinosaur media, Thagomizer aims to summon a Mesozoic mood to transport you back in time. As far as we know, Thagomizer is the only dino synth project in the country.
