Big band, bigger beats – BIG HORNS is the hottest Y2K hip hop and R&B anthems, performed by a full live band, a stacked horn section, a turntablist, and four of Aotearoa’s strongest voices: Pacific R&B navigator Che Fu, soulful roots visionary Ria Hall, rapping musical polyglot Kings and pop-rock trailblazer Boh Runga.
On Saturday October 12th, for ONE NIGHT ONLY, musical director Dixon Nacey (guitar) and horns arranger Mike Booth (trumpet) will load the Powerstation’s storied stage with a suite of local jazz, R&B and session musical legends – including a 10-piece horn section with trumpets, saxophones, trombones, sousaphone and tuba.
Bridging the gap between marching brass bands and studio-crafted beats, this line-up will bring half-time show energy to the club setting with souped-up hits from Tupac, Mary J Blige, Blackstreet, Beyonce, Warren G and more.
