ANNA FÄLT (Sweden) in Concert
7.30-9PM Saturday 15th February at the Ōmiha Memorial Hall

Rocky Bay Folk Club is thrilled to present the extraordinary Nordic vocalist Anna Fält. Anna performs songs from the Scandinavian and Finno-Ugric traditions as well as her own material: ancient spells, incantation texts, herding calls, lullabies, yoik, and stories inspired by Finnish forests and Nordic landscapes.

Anna was born, raised, and educated in Finland but has spent most of her career in Sweden. Specialising in different singing traditions from her two home countries, Anna combines the bright Scandanavian and dark East-European tones, performing in churches, festivals, folk club venues, clubs and concert halls in Europe and internationally, sharing these ancient and beautiful Nordic traditions with new and diverse audiences.

With degrees in Nordic folk music and folk singing pedagogy, she is passionate about the human voice and is known for her innovative ways of using voice as a dynamic instrument. While Anna's concerts are her main work, she also teaches courses and workshops, composes music for various performances, takes on assignments as presenter for Sweden’s Radio and researches folk music.

Anna's concerts are a rare chance to experience the beauty of Nordic folk music through the unique power of one human voice. Don’t miss this extraordinary evening of song and storytelling.

✷ Nordic Folk Singing Workshop 5-6PM at the Ōmiha Memorial Hall ✷

Ahead of the concert, Anna will lead a fun and engaging singing workshop from out of the Ōmiha Memorial Hall. Learn traditional Nordic songs and immerse yourself in the musical heritage of the region, guided by an exceptional teacher.

All material is taught by ear, with simple melodies that allow for variation, making it accessible for everyone, no matter the background. This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to explore the beautiful world of Nordic folk singing.

✷ Please note the workshop is ticketed separately. Join us for one or both events!
✷ Tea and coffee available, otherwise please BYO refreshments.
