Will Gresson is a musician and artist from Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa. He also performs with Guilt Grip, Black Peristyle and The Old Dream of Symmetry amongst other projects. His solo work mixes field recordings with ambient drones and treated guitar to create dense soundscapes. In July he will be participating in a collaborative exhibition alongside musician Iulia Boscu and photographer Tony Nyberg at Audio Foundation.
Kraus (aka Pat Kraus, he/him) is a producer of psychedelic music based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Starting his musical life as a drummer in Ōtepoti bands such as The Futurians, Kraus has released over twenty solo albums since the turn of the millennium. Drawing on an extremely wide range of influences, from contemporary West African synth music (eg. Hama) to the outer limits of 70s psychedelia (Pärson Sound, Les Rallizes Denudes), and from early electronic pioneers such as Laurie Spiegel to the traditional folk music of East Asia, Kraus conjures a rich and evocative sound-world through vividly modal and minimal compositions for guitar, synthesizer and drums. His recent synth-heavy work melds sci-fi sound-design and hypnotic polyrhythms to create new forms of head-spinning electronic music. “Corrosive and masterful” (Byron Coley, The Wire) “One of the most quietly important and interesting people making music in New Zealand” (Kiran Dass, The Listener)
Ex-Partner is a songwriter and sound artist living in the Waitakere Ranges. Their work is influenced by the noisier and moodier textures within experimental, electronic and post-punk music and embraces strong melodies and witty lyrics. Throughout their many projects Ex-Partner has supported the likes of Drab Majesty, Lydia Lunch and Flipper. This special two-piece set (with Paul Brown on bass) will feature several new tracks performed on electric guitar/bass, voice and digital sampler.
