Auckland singer songwriters and besties Geoff Ong & Miriam McCombe are teaming up to perform each other's music as soulful duets in this laid-back, sit-down Sunday session at cosy MoveSpace.
After Geoff's release of his stunning EP 'Diverging Lines' and Miriam's debut of her 5-piece band in recent Ponsonby Social gig, these two pals are finding some calm amidst the chaos to enjoy each other's tunes in the comfy setting of their favourite local venue.
(And if you're thinking you can't come because you're going to Snarky Puppy this eve - worry not, this gig will slot perfectly into your plans! Kicking off at 5pm, this event will wrap up at a sensible 6-ish, giving punters plenty of time to grab some kai on Dom road before heading to the Powerstation!)
GEOFF ONG is a pop artist making music for the misfits - the kind of pop that wears its heart on its sleeve and doesn’t mind if it’s a little off-kilter. His debut album Maybe It’ll Be Alright landed five singles in the Top 5 of the Official NZ Music Charts, earning him a reputation for thoughtful songwriting, infectious hooks, and energetic live shows that make every crowd feel like close friends. From stages at Cross St Festival and Newtown Festival to collaborations with artists like Hollie Fullbrook (Tiny Ruins) and Don McGlashan, Geoff has become a quietly essential voice in Aotearoa’s indie-pop landscape.
MIRIAM McCOMBE is a musician and songwriter originally from Bath, UK. Her music combines folky, lilting melodies blended with funky grooves, balancing waves of sadness with lyrical silliness. After moving to Aotearoa in 2019, she became trapped due to the pandemic - a strange and eventually fortuitous incident. She released her first EP 'Weightless' in 2023, a self-produced collection of heartfelt songs about her arrival to NZ. Since then she’s begun playing her music with a full band of local indie music legends, has performed her songs with local darlings SHE Choir Auckland, and has even released music with the beloved Suzy Cato. She's always looking for a band to be in - hit her up!
