Wellington band Mehana are known for their vibrant and energetic performances and have carved a unique niche for themselves with their passion for Balkan and Eastern European music. Formed in 2015, Mehana draw inspiration from traditional music including Balkan folk and Romani and Sefard. Characterized by lively rhythms, intricate melodies, and soulful vocals, these multi-instrumentalists skillfully blend accordion, violin, trumpet, guitar, and percussion to create a rich and dynamic musical experience. Mehana has gained a dedicated following and have performed at numerous festivals, cultural events, and venues, captivating audiences with their inspiring high energy and authenticity.
