Gig Information

Here is your opportunity to see three of Wellington’s most exciting and uncompromising acts along with Auckland's own Lucian Rice. Whammy will host this special evening in what feels like a mini-festival/showcase that you don't want to miss.

Lucian Rice, Dropper, Eveline Breaker, & First Reserve each bring a distinctive energy and vision to the stage — complementary in ethos but uncompromising in artistic identity. Together, they represent the growing depth, diversity, and vitality of the alternative music community.

Lucian Rice is carving out a unique space in the Aotearoa alt scene, blending dream pop, thunderous alt-rock, and the aching pulse of nu-gaze into something raw and emotionally charged. He is quickly emerging as a prodigious talent. Having spent time between New Zealand, New York, and Los Angeles, Rice has expanded his creative horizons through international collaborations. He has worked with artists such as Nick Ward, carwash, and Molly Payton.

Dropper is the latest project from Jude Savage (ex-Bleeding Star), River Hann-Ellen (Debt Club) and Walter Martin (American Muscle) and blends pop sensibilities with a dense, guitar-driven wall of sound, echoing influences like Hüsker Dü, JPS Experience, and Afghan Whigs. Following the release of their debut single Your Face Says It All, Dropper is quickly earning a reputation for unforgettable live performances. One recent review praised the band as having “high-energy stage presence punctuated by flawless musicianship and songwriting.”

First Reserve is the fast-rising alt-rock project from Te-Whanganui-a-Tara’s Ryan Connaghan, delivering explosive live energy and raw emotional depth. Their sound blends anthemic hooks with gut-punch vulnerability, creating music that hits hard and stays with you. The latest single Alice, is an earworm that is worth the price of admission alone.

Eveline Breaker rounds out the lineup with a spellbinding set of experimental shoegaze electronica. Often described as “scintillating and ethereal,” her live shows blur the line between noise and nuance, delivering a visceral, emotional soundscape that’s as immersive as it is unforgettable.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear these four singular artists in one night.
