Carmichael is a six-piece jazz ensemble, based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Inspired by different global groove-driven collectives, such as Kokoroko, Ezra Collective, Nubiyan Twist & Fat Freddy’s Drop, their music blends elements of afrobeat, neo-soul and jazz fusion.
