You missed the riots. You caught the playlists. Now feel it live.
The cost of living keeps climbing. But so does the volume. On Friday 22 August, Auckland’s inner city shakes with three bands upstairs and four decades of punk spun through the main bar. It’s not a reunion. It’s not a revival. It’s a refusal to shut up.
Upstairs at Dead Witch, it’s fast and loud. The Bright Ideas twist post-punk tension into flanged guitars and crooked rhythm. The Bridesmaids bring sneering riffs and scrappy heart. Dead Contract stomp through the old-school grit that still hits like it used to.
Downstairs at Ding Dong Lounge, Drew Bang and guests spin the chaos: ‘70s grit, ‘80s speed, ‘90s skate, 2000s melody. The Clash. The Bronx. The songs you screamed when no one was listening. The ones that held you together.
This night’s for anyone who ever felt saved by punk. For the kids just finding it, and the ones who never let it go. No gods. Just guitars. No gatekeepers. Just noise.
Upstairs: sweat. Downstairs: scream.
Find your crew. Lose your voice.
It’s not a tribute. It’s not a showcase.
It’s a punk night.
