Audio Foundation is thrilled to present a stunning quadraheader lineup for a Tuesday night epic!

Motte / Dream Chambers / Rob Thorne / Waiwhai + Sina Leo

Dream Chambers is the moniker of vocalist, synthesist, and composer Jess Chambers. From her beginnings as a folk singer to her current explorations in electronic music, she seeks to celebrate the mystery of the natural outer world and her intuitive inner realm. Her live performances weave textures of modular synthesisers and voice, unfolding dramatic movements that brim toward the ineffable.

Her most recent collaboration featured chamber orchestra arrangements of her songs with the Chatterbird Ensemble, a performance praised by Music City Review as “a stunningly organic translation of Chambers’ intimate and breathtaking work.” Dream Chambers has also completed her first feature film score, with additional film and television projects forthcoming. Her self-titled album will be released on US label Curious Music later this year.

Rāhana Tito-Taylor (AKA WAIWHAI.) is a multi-dimensional musician from Tangiteroria (Te Tai Tokerau), with a vast musical whakapapa with threads tracing through sound traditions such as taonga puoro, creative music, psychedelic noise and avant-garde beats - think Hirini Melbourne meets Sun Ra meets Jeff Parker meets Les Rallizes Dénudés meets Ras G.

In 2024 WAIWHAI. released ’Slowdown World’, a genre-bending body of compositions featuring Riki Gooch, Parks, JY Lee, Cory Champion, Julien Dyne, Abigail Aroha Jensen, Janina Nana Yao, Alistair Fraser, Navakatoa Tekela-Pule and Jeff Henderson. With visuals by Sina Leo

Rob Thorne, MA (Ngāti Tumutumu, Tainui) has been playing, performing and composing with taonga pūoro for over 25 years. His debut album, Whāia Te Māramatanga (2014) was a practical and spiritual, solo exploration into the potential of ensembling for taonga pūoro by using looping technology that was critiqued as having “successfully re-imagined and reconstructed traditional Māori instrumental music for the 21st Century” (NZ Musician) while being nominated for the Taite Music Prize.
He currently has six albums to his name with a seventh about to be released, has made work for TV, short and feature films, been awarded an APRA Silver Scroll for Best Television Score and is one of only three New Zealand artists ever to showcase at WOMEX. Amongst others, he has collaborated with Raven Chacon, Dane Mitchell, Phil Dadson, Richard Nunns, Fis, Tania Giannouli, David Rothenberg, Anna
Fält, Celeste Oram, Karl Sölve Steven, and Michael Morley, written for and performed with Orchestra Wellington, New Zealand String Quartet, and NZ Trio, and performed at Darmstädter Ferienkurse, CTM/Transmediale Berlin, Borderline Athens, Café Oto, Enjoy Jazz, The Unconformity Festival, MONA, Monash University Museum of Art, NZ Arts Festival, Auckland Arts Festival, Aotearoa Audio Arts Festival, and the New Zealand Governor General.
He was the Composer in Residence at the New Zealand School of Music 2016-17
and has presented conference keynotes for NZ Musicological Society, Association of
Social Anthropologists of Aotearoa NZ and Australasian Jazz & Improvisation Research Network.
His existing recorded work continues to be licensed across New Zealand and the world for TV and film and to play in museum and gallery spaces, while having commissioned sound and AV work exhibited by Issue Project Room New York, STUK Leuven Belgium, Phoenix Art Museum Arizona, ANZAC Commemorations Gallipoli and Liquid Architecture, Melbourne.
Rob is represented by Heard and Seen Publishers.

Anita Clark is a violinist, composer and producer, based in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, NZ. Performing under the moniker MOTTE as her solo persona, she uses violin, sampled sound/field recordings, synthesizer and voice to build glacial atmosphere, frozen moods and crystalline tones - conveying otherworldly landscapes and preternatural impressions.

She has released three solo albums since 2015, 'Songs For Movies' -self released/Melted Icecream, 'Strange Dreams' -CocoMuseRecords and 'Cold + Liquid' -BaDaBing! Records.

It’s designed as an immersive experience and does sometimes feel like the aural equivalent of caving, as Motte’s strings swoop and trill around you. Often this kind of music aims for warmth and comfort - it’s nice to hear something so purposefully chilly. - Tony Stamp on 'Cold + Liquid'

Anita composes music for film, theatre, movement and dance, notably producing work for the Royal New Zealand Ballet, the NZ Dance Company, Movement of the Human (MOTH), Movement Art Practice (MAP) and COLOSSAL. Anita’s first short film soundtrack for ‘Shadows’ (AUS/SUI) was premiered at Cannes Film Festival 2019, and her feature length score for NZ documentary ‘Building Bridges - Bill Youren’s Vision Of Peace’ was awarded 'Outstanding Excellence for Original Score’ from Docs Without Borders Film Festival and was featured in the NZ Film Festival 2023. Currently she is a member of Don McGlashan, Holly Arrowsmith, the Luke Buda band and The Perms.
