Halfsister formed in January 2022 when Greta, at a loose end over the summer break, composed 10 songs on her work laptop using the free software Garage Band a guitar and the two chords she knew at that point. Previously, she had been a drummer in The Blue Marbles and Superette.
She then enlisted the help of organist Hermione Jonstone of Ogadon and Drogan, and drummer Gary Sullivan of The Jean-Paul Sartre Experience, Solid Gold Hell, and Dimmer, to complement her two chords.
Now collectively known as Halfsister, they performed a handful of shows in Auckland and Wellington while recording their debut LP. With all songs recorded, disaster struck after a lawnmower accident, and all progress was halted until surgery could be completed.
Now back and fully mended, Half Sister will be performing at Goblin Bar on Ponsonby Road on 23rd October, with Lady Rox playing records before and after the show
