Kia ora! We are very excited to announce our single release event for ‘Mitzy’, the latest track from Bri Louise off our upcoming Album. This will be a celebration of original music, queer artistry, and our wonderful community. The evening will feature Bri Louise Band, consisting of Bri Louise (vocal/keys)(they/them), Molly Wyatt (flute/vocals)(she/her), Becky Devine (bass)(she/her), Theo Thompson (guitar)(he/him), Eloise Edmonds (Saxophone)(she/her) and Ateo Buhne (drums)(he/him). Bri Louise blends sultry queer with smooth love and undeniable groove. Their sound has roots in Gospel and Neo-Soul, evolving into a rich fusion of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and R&B. Bri’s music features a talented live band that supports their poetic lyrics with colourful keys, phatty bass, flashy beats, vibrant guitar and fruity woodwinds.
Carmichael is a six-piece jazz ensemble, based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Born from the darkest depths of jazz school, Carmichael was formed by a bunch of friends to make music that’s danceable as heck and have a good time doing it together. The band combines horns, vocals, rhythm and bass to create some of the grooviest music around. Inspired by different global groove-driven collectives, such as Kokoroko, Ezra Collective, Nubiyan Twist & Fat Freddy’s Drop, their music blends elements of afrobeat, neo-soul and jazz fusion. Featuring: Lily Atu - alto saxophone & vocals (she/her), Elisa Bird - baritone saxophone (she/her), Frank Paton - trumpet (he/him), Darcy Monteath - bass (she/her), Petar Tavich - guitar (he/him) & Jojo Alexander - drums (he/him).
Kong Kasi’s live sets are a celebration of the dub mixing art form. Utilising an 8 track mixer and FX units Kong Kasi improvises and remix’s (dubs) his own reggae creations making every set and riddim vastly different from the last. His music is heavily inspired by island reggae and Pacific dub merging the sunny beach sides of Polynesia with the deep and heavy dancehalls of the Caribbean.
