Live Photos: Kiss - Vector Arena, Auckland
The legendary KISS descended on New Zealand over the weekend for one show at Auckland's Vector Arena on Friday night. The surreal spectacle from the American glam metal outfit began in theatrical fashion, with a giant KISS curtain pulled down to reveal the band and a descending platform holding drummer Eric Singer as they launched into classic cut 'Detroit Rock City'. All while a giant spider illuminated the stage.
No expense was spared for the show, which incorporated around 900 pieces of pyrotechnics that even included Gene Simmons breathing fire at one point. And later Paul Stanley wizzed above the crowd onto a small platform in the middle of the arena where he perched to sing a song before flying back. Reaching into their healthy back-catalogue, the band played a lot of their greatest hits: 'I Was Made For Lovin' You', 'Lick It Up', and 'Do You Love Me' to name a few. Photographer Michael Pharaoh went along to experience the madness, and captured the up-close-and-personal shots below...
