Listen: The Keepaways - Portal 5 (UTR Premiere)

Brisbane trip-punk trio The Keepaways are unveiling fantastic new tune 'Portal 5', the final song from track from their forthcoming self-titled EP. According to bandmember Jinki Jake 'Portal 5' is the most intense track on the five-song offering, mashing together machine-like programmed drums with cut-up live drums.

"For me it was an experiment to see how you could split a drum part both in the tight electronic realm and in the loose natural realm while having electronic synths and vocals happening over the top," he says. "Portal 5 is the last song on the EP and I wanted it to basically be the brain child for the other songs taking lyrical, electronic and live sound ideas from the other portal tracks and putting it all in one track." You can check out the first four singles over on the band's Soundcloud page, and keep your eyes peeled for a collected release.
