NZIFF Reveal Music Documentaries For 2016 Festival
The New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF) has revealed five music-themed films ahead of the 2016 programme launch.
Leading the pack is Miss Sharon Jones!, a film by Academy Award-winning documentary maker Barbara Kopple, who follows the vivacious singer to paint an intimate portrait of her battle with cancer and her return to performing. The film will be showing in all NZIFF centres.
Also top of the list is Eat That Question: Frank Zappa in His Own Words, which splices together performance and interview footage of the ever-articulate rock star to recount the story of his defiantly non-conformist musical journey. It will be playing in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton and Palmerston North.
The other films in the line up are Argentina, Music Of Strangers and Wide Open Sky.
NZIFF takes place in 13 towns and cities around the country. The full festival programme will be available from Tuesday 21 June for Auckland, and Friday 24 June for Wellington. NZIFF 2016 dates are:
Auckland 14 – 31 July
Wellington 22 July – 7 August
Christchurch 28 July – 14 August
Dunedin 4 – 21 August
Further regional dates, along with ticketing information can be found at the NZIFF website.
