Video: I.E. Crazy - An Incident On The Edge Of Town

In the babybooming 1940s whole suburbs of state housing were being built around New Zealand to create areas such as Naenae in Lower Hutt and Otara in Auckland, tethered to the hopes that nuclear family life could manifest in these suburban parcels. For her new clip for 'An Incident On The Edge Of Town' Auckland-based artist i.e. crazy takes a look back at the dawning of this social housing scheme by utilising video produced by Public Works Department Film Unit in 1945 - which comes with the statement that: "A nation’s prosperity isn’t measured in exports and show and false fronts. It’s in the way people live and how much sun they get... where the kids grow up and how sanitation works".

Given the current state of affairs in New Zealand, it all comes together to create an interesting and thought-provoking video that sits perfectly well with the song's dark undercurrents. Take a look below...
