RIP Leonard Cohen

In some sad news to finish off an already taxing week, word has just surfaced that legendary wordsmith Leonard Cohen has passed away, aged 82. The hugely influential Canadian songwriter had released his 14th studio album You Want It Darker just last month to widespread critical acclaim.

Cohen's label, Sony Music Canada, confirmed his death on the artist's Facebook page, writing: "It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief." No cause of death has been revealed.
