Stream Draghound's Self-Titled Debut EP (UTR Preview)

Wednesday 21st December, 2016 9:30AM

Wellington outfit Draghound first caught our attention earlier in the year when they shared their hypnotic seven-minute opus 'Flange In The Bedroom', so we are stoked to be able to give the first airing to their new self-titled EP. The band, who have described their sound loosely as "psychedelic grunge funk", laid down the four-song offering at the home of guitarist/vocalist Emerald Rose, who filled us in a little bit on the experience:

"I have limited recording gear and experience, but we had a good time making it up along the way. There was alot of freedom to jam, probably too much, 'Flange in the Bedroom' and the entire ending of 'Fuzzy in the Brain' are improvisations that sound different every time, but it's cool to have recorded versions. Originally there were eight tracks, but it just became overwhelming, and I figured the first EP would be an experiment so we are saving something up for the next one! Musically the four tracks are an interesting mix, with 'Shy' being a stark pop contrast, but the lyrical content of the EP is all in one way or another about the experience of coming out. It's far from perfect, but here it is."

Stream the EP below, and then head over to the Draghound Bandcamp page to pick up your own coy under the name-your-price scheme....
