Stream Dad Jokes’ New Album 'Watch Out For The Bullies'
After embedding themselves firmly within our musical short-term memory with several unreasonably catchy singles, Dad Jokes have cracked a corker of an album in the form of Watch Out For The Bullies. The good-time garage rocking record was laid down at Mezzanine by Edward Castelow (Dictaphone Blues), and is a fittingly sing along-rousing follow up to last year’s Hopeless Vacation EP.
The dreary lyrics to ‘Dread’ belie the band’s happy-go-lucky melodies, which at time are reminiscent of the Beach Boys in the midst of a vacation to Ibiza. Further lyrical irony rears it’s head in ‘Confidence’ when the hook line of “No confidence!” is shouted, rather confidently, in gang vocal fashion and classic bangers ‘Bad Friend’ and ‘2:10 Todd’ are still exactly that. Have a hoon below...
You can catch Dad Jokes in Wellington tonight at Moon with their buddies Tigers Of The Sea, Tape Wolves and Earth Tongue.
The Auckland release party is on Saturday 4th March with Bloodbags, Bozo, Markdown and Milk helping to celebrate.
