Dunedin Gothtronica Trio Elan Vital Unveil Debut Album 'Shadow Self'

Friday 24th March, 2017 9:10AM

Dunedin three-piece Élan Vital have let loose their highly-anticipated debut album Shadow Self via local label Fishrider Records.  The trio, which is comprised of Renee Barrance, Danny Brady and Nikolai Sim, formed in 2015 at None Gallery and since then have been refining their sound which takes elements of European cold-wave and 60s garage rock and blends them together to produce dark, driving tunes that effortlessly glide between digital and analogue worlds. In a statement on the Fishrider Bandcamp page the album has been described as thus...

The music on Shadow Self represents that life impulse in an ambiguous zone between machine and human worlds. A dense claustrophobic swirl of dark dance-tempo synth-pop blooms from gloomy cold industrial dance music with vocoder vocals into uplifting melodic dream-pop catharsis about memory, longing, and obsession.

Stream the album below and head over to Bandcamp to pick up your own digital copy or splash out on vinyl or CD...

Word has it Elan Vital will be announcing an album release tour any day no, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
