Auckland Trio Bespin Let Loose Surreal Video For 'East Of Her'

Auckland trio Bespin have lifted the lid off a stunning video for their latest single 'East Of Her', which was released earlier this month. Directed by Damian Golfinopoulos (the filmmaker behind unsettling videos for Marlon Williams, Civil Union and Great North), the genesis for the clip came from a nightmare according to frontman Jonathan Lee, who said in a statement that the video took 72 hours of back-to-back shooting:

"I had a nightmarish dream, and remembered it quite vividly for weeks. That normally doesn’t happen for me, for some reason it just stuck. I had worked with Damian on some video processing before, and we had discussed doing a clip together for a while. I told him what I remembered dreaming, described it in the broad strokes - which he then took, and re-pitched back to me as the video we made."

"It ended up being quite affronting and altogether 'too close for comfort' which is pretty much what we were shooting for. The shoot was super physical, and went for 72 hours back-to-back. I ran through that forest treeline for a full night, was dragged around the next day, had to free-float in a pool for hours, and we finished with the blood-tub. It was a surreal and beautiful blur."
