Undertheradar is Seeking a New Editor!

Undertheradar is Seeking a New Editor!

Friday 8th September, 2017 12:10PM

Due to the imminent departure of our dedicated and much loved Editor, Danielle Street, who is off to join the lucky folk at Radio New Zealand, we are seeking to appoint a new Editor and quick smart! This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced writer to take their music-nerdery to the next level.

We are after a serious music fan with a dual interest in journalism and online media, with proven experience in these domains to produce, manage and promote all of our Editorial content.

This is a role that will require time management, attention to detail and seriously good communication skills. It would suit someone who is social and loves to go out to shows and events but also doesn’t mind working in a small team.

This position is based in Auckland, no exceptions. It is full-time in dedication but not necessarily hours, with some non-negotiable hours required on weekday mornings (starting 8.30am) and then as required to get the job done. Some occasional weekend or evening work will be inevitable with interviews and shows, etc.

This is a contract role to start asap with a minimum commitment of 15 months. Remuneration will be discussed on a case-by-case basis depending on the applicant’s experience. However, please bear in mind this is not a role to consider for the financially driven.

The Editor is in sole charge of ensuring the production of content Monday to Friday throughout the year with the exception of a short break over Xmas/NYE.

Mandatory requirements for any application will include:

- Journalism experience, published writing including some music writing
- Knowledge and appreciation of alternative music, particularly local artists and local live music scenes
- Regular attendance of live shows
- Leadership/people management experience
- Good communication skills
- Experience promoting through social media
- An understanding and appreciation of UTR

Experience in some of these areas would be great too:

- Photoshop
- Photography
- Video Production
- Advertising Sales
- Marketing
- Design
- Web development

To apply please email contribute@undertheradar.co.nz and include your relevant experience/qualifications, examples of your published writing, your availability and anything else you think we should know about you. Please keep applications concise and related to role.

Applications close: 10am, Friday 15th September
