Premiere: Roy Irwin Shares New Single 'King Of Pop'

Friday 29th September, 2017 9:25AM

Auckland rocker Roy Irwin comes barrelling out the gate with his catchy new single 'King Of Pop,' the title cut from his upcoming album due 10 November. UTR caught up with the prolific artist who shared his thoughts on the deeper meanings behind the self-actualising new song:

"The song 'King Of Pop' is about depression and the false sense of bravado alcohol and drugs can give you when you're feeling down. While mental health is no joke, this song is basically me making fun of my own depression. Like, "Hell yeah, I'm stepping outside of the house today because I feel like the fucking King Of Pop" but you're actually just gonna feel way shittier when you sober up. The lyrics are pretty vague but I feel like the listener will feel the vibe rather than having to be told straight up. I wanted this song to sound like a person being burned alive in the middle of a dance routine."

Listen to Roy Irwin's  new single and stay tuned for more info on his upcoming album King Of Pop.
