Listen To Hopetoun Brown's New Single 'You Know I Know (Ft. Sophie Burbery)'

Taite-nominated Auckland duo Hopetoun Brown (Nick Atkinson and Tim Stewart) have been winning hearts nationwide with their famously energetic and fun multi-instrumental live performances. Ahead of an upcoming appearance at WOMAD 2018 they have just dropped new single 'You Know I Know', an upbeat rambling track featuring dueling "stoner rap" vocals from Atkinson and Sophie Burbery, and excellent solos from musical guests Callum Passells and Issac Chadderton (Weird Together). Atkinson shared his thoughts and feelings about the new song...

“This song started life as a possible solo track, but I couldn’t bear the thought of releasing a choon without my man Tibs (Tim Stewart).

The guests on this track are brilliant! That’s my neighbour Sophie Burbery on vocals. She’s a whirlwind bright-eyes, beauty and toughness. Alto sax player Callum Passells is a sensational talent with one of the finest tones around and we stole Weird Together’s steel-drum player and percussionist Issac Chadderton to nail down the bongos and bells.”

This is basically a daft stoner-rap verson of that Gotye/Kimbra song, except our unpainted heroes are still together at end bathing in a large pile of saxophones.”
