Wellington's Harris Shares Debut Album 'Bed Bugs'
Wellington alt-rock and soundscape artist Harris (aka Harris Mackenzie Boock) has dropped his solo debut album of catchy and whimsical guitar pop titled Bed Bugs. Recently seen performing alongside electronic artist Strange Stains, Harris will be launching the beautifully recorded album with a special party at Caroline this Friday, supported by Mr Amish and St. Bartholomew. We caught up with Harris to find out more about his somnambulistic new record…
“I recorded it in my lounge over summer. It took about a month altogether. Some of the songs, like ‘Reddish-Brown’, ‘Pillow Talk’, and ‘Adele’, were kind of spontaneous to come about during that time. The rest were written going into it. I had a really specific sound in my head, and sonically I tried to get as much as possible out of those two words, ‘bed’ and ‘bugs’. For me, the whole thing sits somewhere between falling asleep and waking up. It’s interesting that we have rituals around these processes that involve sound, like lullabies and alarms. I guess these songs are both”.
Listen to the new album below and catch Harris live at the Bed Bugs launch party on Friday 3rd November…
