Auckland's Nich Cunningham Drops 'National Religion' EP

Tuesday 28th November, 2017 3:50PM

Multi-instrumentalist Nich Cunningham is known to Auckland gig-goers for his work with groups The Moonlight, Lost Rockets, Thieves, and Malevolence, and has now shared his sophomore five song collection National Religion. The new release sees Cunningham abetted by top tier percussionists Julien Dyne and Bruce Wurr, with saxophone iconoclast Jeff Henderson adding his signature squalls to Lynchian tune ‘Terrible Person’. It’s a crisp and snappy assortment, the motorik rhythms keep the melodic guitar lines zooming along at breakneck pace. Listen to National Religion and check out Cunningham’s video for ‘Terrible Person’ which is comprised of appropriated footage by Czech filmmaker Jan Švankmajer…
