Listen To Windhand's Doomy Tune 'Old Evil' (+ Video)

Friday 8th December, 2017 11:07AM

Richmond-based doom quartet Windhand have shared a fresh, fuzz-filled tune titled ‘Old Evil’. The ominous track is lifted from the forthcoming split LP with fellow Virginian doom band Satan’s Satyrs and is six minutes of the blown-out, 70s worshipping pentatonic riffs that the band has become renowned for. The accompanying visuals mirror the vintage, psychedelic sonics of the track, depicting silhouettes of the band members in vivid Technicolor purples, pinks and yellows, superimposed over imagery of goats, rituals and ancient ruins.

Windhand made their mark on the Aotearoa music scene earlier this year when their set at the King’s Arms was tragically cut short by noise control. This incident sparked ongoing discussions about the role of music venues in enriching Auckland city (both culturally and economically) and what the City Council’s role is in protecting and encouraging these spaces. Check out ‘Old Evil’ below…
