Sleep Cancel New Zealand and Australia Tour

Friday 15th December, 2017 6:30PM

Sleep have cancelled their upcoming tour of New Zealand and Australia in January following allegations of the sexual misconduct against Dave Cutbush from Australian based touring company Life Is Noise. News of the allegations broke this morning and the band posted the following statement on Facebook this afternoon:

"We have learned today of allegations of sexual harassment and verbal and physical abuse by Dave Cutbush of Life is Noise. We cannot and will not tolerate this behavior with anyone. We cannot tolerate or work with those who are complicit in this behavior either. In light of this, and with utmost respect to those affected, it is with great regret that we must cancel our planned tour of New Zealand and Australia this coming January. We hope to arrange another tour with a new promoter or touring company, to be determined at a future date."

The stoner-doom legends were to play New Zealand for the very first time in January with shows in Auckland and Wellington that had both sold out.

The women who came forward with their stories were not doubt encouraged by the #meNOmore campaign (inspired in turn by the #metoo movement) which was launched earlier this week by women working within the Australian Music Industry who released an open letter speaking out about the "uncountable discrimination, harassment, violence, and the general menace of sexist jargon"in the industry.

Cutbush has issued a statement acknowledging the accusations and is no longer going to be involved with Life Is Noise's upcoming shows which will hopefully go ahead with alternate promoters if not Life is Noise.

Sleep ticket holders will be refunded next week and ticket holders of other Life Is Noise shows will be notified of any further news via email.

Chelsea Wolfe has also now cancelled her New Zealand and Australia tour as have Wolves in theThrone Room - refunds will be processed this week and available by 29th December.  Contact our helpdesk if you are ticket holder and are concerned about your refund:
