US synth-pop maestros Future Islands rocked Auckland’s Powerstation on Saturday evening with a “hugely powerful performance”, said UTR contributor and fan Hunter Keane. “Frontman Sam [Herring] said all these things in between songs, like about how touring makes you forget what’s really important. He seemed like he was on the verge of tears the entire time but was also very grateful of us being so supportive”. Opening act Kody Nielson was “impressive as always” bringing unprecedented levels of aural innovation to the stage.
