Press release:
ANNO DOMINI - Auckland’s premier rooftop party - is back again. Following two sold-out summer runs on Auckland Art Gallery’s East Terrace, AD returns for ONE VERY SPECIAL SHOW on Sunday March 11th featuring what is potentially the best line-up to date:
Get ready for the dance of the summer, featuring legendary Detroit electronic music pioneer Moodymann, Melbourne’s finest DJ JNETT, and DJ Mag’s Breakthrough DJ of 2017 Or:la.
Inspired by rooftop events popular in New York and throughout Europe, Anno Domini has proven over the last two seasons that it could deliver on its promise of providing Aucklander's a purposefully curated yet relaxed afternoon event series, mixing together great music, food, and drink. With stellar line-ups of international and local acts, Anno Domini quickly became one of most in-demand events in Auckland selling out all of their events and being awarded rave reviews from both attendees and prestigious publications including electronic music bible, Resident Advisor.
Kenny Dixon Jr., otherwise known as Moodymann, is a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a face-mask. Over the past three decades he has become a cult-hero to anyone even half-way interested in dance music - with his deep, immaculate productions becoming timeless pieces of art on dance-floors worldwide. Despite the mesh of rumours and silence about his own story, his voice has been one of the loudest when it comes to preserving and respecting the rich heritage of Afro-American music that laid the groundwork for dance music today. And he is such a wild selector, someone known for pushing the boundaries while making the crowd move.
Melbourne native Janette Pitruzzello aka DJ JNETT has been spinning records and creating heat in Melbourne’s music industry since the early 90s. She is one of Australia’s biggest house luminaries. DJ JNETT has a heavyweight knowledge and sincere love for music combined with a blissful stage presence, which continuously leaves dance floors euphoric, hugging and smiling the night away. Dress to sweat.
UK DJ and musician Orlagh Dooley, aka Or:la, had the perfect year in 2017. She released more of her dynamic productions on Hotflush, launched the label Deep Sea Frequency, and continued to play her revered, genre-melding DJ sets everywhere from fabric and The Warehouse Project to her own nomadic Meine Nacht club night. It’s really no surprise she was named DJ Mag’s Breakthrough DJ of 2017 and One to Watch in 2018 by Mixmag. Her debut NZ show at Anno Domini will be unmissable. Local party-heroes Friendly Potential DJs will be providing the resident’s touch from kick-off.
Tickets for the Sunday March 11th show go on sale 8am Monday 22nd of January from Anno Domini.
