Premiere: Womb Share Dreamy Single 'Here We Bend (To Smell The Dirt)'
Wellington psychedelic trio Womb have shared a captivating new single titled 'Here We Bend (to Smell the Dirt)', the latest teaser for their much-anticipated album Like Splitting the Head From the Body. The dreamlike tune starts in a stripped-back acoustic mode before escalating in scale, bringing into the mix layers of vocal melodies, pounding drums, heart-tugging strings, and fantastical sounds as the song progresses. Womb will be celebrating their new song's release with a performance at the A Gathering In The Forest festival in Whanganui this weekend, and will perform alongside Dunedin cold-wavers Élan Vital at Wellington's Caroline next week. We caught up with co-songwriter Charlotte Forrester who shed light on 'Here We Bend (to Smell the Dirt)' and Womb's plans for 2018...
"I wrote this song after a crazy night in town two years ago. We went out dancing and I was pouring water onto the heads of my friends, and onto the dancefloor. Later we lay on the grass, watched the stars, and we stayed out until the sun came up. This song was written as a sort of ode to the tenderness of that night.
This is the second single off our upcoming debut album 'Like Splitting the Head From the Body'. We have been working on this album since the start of last year, so we are very excited to finally share it on March 1st! We will be hitting up Christchurch, Auckland, and Wellington in the following days, alongside some very special acts. Details to come!"
'Like Splitting the Head From the Body' will be out Thursday 1st March.
