Trendees Share Artful Single 'How Many Masterpieces Etc' + Video

Monday 5th February, 2018 2:22PM

Ear-bleeding Oamaru noise punks Trendees have unveiled their latest sonic outpouring, a new single titled 'How Many Masterpieces etc', which is accompanied by a fuzzy video artfully directed by Campbell Walker. The noisy tune captures the band in riff-heavy freak-out mode, with singer Matthew Plunkett taking aim at "men and the stuff they do." We caught up with Plunkett to uncover the circumstances behind the song and the group's forthcoming album Nightmare City...

"The vid was inspired a little bit by the aesthetic of the film 'Nightmare City' which is where we got the name for our LP coming out soon. Nine songs on the LP recorded in the sweltering ruins of an Oamaru gone mad. (Trendees member) Eden had the side of his house caved in by a wayward moron which delayed making music for a bit. Someone crashed into Eden's house, basically there is still a giant hole in the side and splinters all through the lounge. Then the week after some other crazed individual took out a restaurant on Kakanui Rd.

On hot days here sometimes also this weird fog rolls in over the heat. On top of this we have been spinning round in circles like we are stuck in a malfunctioning clothes dryer trying to get this thing finished. That's the sort of feeling we are going with - spinning."
