Caught Live: Kim Deal Plays 'Joanne' by Michael Nesmith

Thursday 8th February, 2018 1:58PM

Boston alt-rock trailblazers The Breeders are releasing their first album in a decade All Nerve this year, and have already shared a run of sublime singles in the lead up to the record. The group's chief songwriter Kim Deal recently dropped by Chicago's Electrical Audio studios and recorded an affecting rendition of The Monkees member Michael Nesmith's chart-topping, proto alt-country single 'Joanne'. Nesmith went on to have an acclaimed solo career after his sixties pop group dissipated, likewise the quality of Deal's post-Pixies work remains rock-solid after over three decades of music making. Listen to Deal's acoustic version of 'Joanne' below...

The Breeders' forthcoming album 'All Nerve' is out Friday 2nd March.
