Watch The Pleasure Majenta's Mind-Bending Video 'Messer II'
Auckland-based post-punk/dark psych outfit The Pleasure Majenta have dropped a disorientating slice of visual art to accompany their ominous track ‘Messer II’, from their recent album In Your Dreams. Directed by Holly Paynter (aka Emotional Consumer), the video is a swirly mass of livestock, insects and innards which drives home the confusion and distress of the rumbling, drum machine-driven sonic psychosis. Multi-instrumentalist Lawrence Goodwin (aka Career Girls) shed some light on the single...
“The track is a rehash of a song from the first album. It was recorded in one day at National Mini Storage in Parnell with Reuben Winter on drum machine/bass and Aaron Longville on saxophone. Most of the footage (except the meaty stuff) in the video was filmed on a trip to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan by Holly. “
You can catch Pleasure Majenta at Auckland’s Audio Foundation on Thursday 22nd February, alongside Big Flip The Massive and Trapjaw Kelpie.
